Tornado Cash has been added to the list of Specially Designated Nationals maintained by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. All US citizens are prohibited from interacting with Tornado Cash or any addresses associated with the protocol. Tornado Cash has been used to launder funds from a number of high-profile hacks. Because the laundered funds were most likely used for weapons proliferation, the hacks are considered serious national security risks.
