This update introduces two major features, Conflux and Onion Service Proof-of-Work (PoW), aimed at enhancing performance, stability, and mitigating DDoS spam on the Tor network.
Firstly, Conflux enhances performance and stability by allowing Tor to create multiple circuits to the same exit point for a single stream.
Secondly, Onion Service Proof-of-Work (PoW) combats Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks by requiring clients to solve cryptographic puzzles, prioritizing access based on computational effort. Originally made for Monero for secure, CPU-focused security, Tevador was able to build upon RandomX to make the modified system adopted by Tor.
The collaborative efforts between the Tor project and Tevador, the developer behind RandomX, showcase the cooperative spirit and commitment of privacy projects to safeguarding users’ digital lives.
