Tornado Cash is a privacy protocol otherwise known as a tumbler or mixer service. It allows users to mix traceable crypto tokens with other new tokens in an effort to make it harder to trace the original source. The user inputs the tokens they wish to anonymize, which get cut up into pieces and mixed with a bunch of other tokens, and are then sent to a new address. The user will get their full value back, minus the transaction fee, but it will be received in fractional amounts and numerous transactions to further obscure its traceability.
